I have been playing for 18 years in PDGA events and I must say that it is about time. Falling putts should be illegal as should jump putts. Very rarely does someone jump putt legally.
I use the jump putt myself, but always feel as though I am cheating doing so. It looks ugly, it eliminates the skill of throwing a disc Instead you just launch it into the air. This is a great idea. 100 feet and in makes sense. I kind of think this is a good idea. I would love to see the jump putt eliminated from the sport. And I use them quite a bit. Would be nice to have people throw the disc from 100 feet again. |

Correct - see my post earlier.
Jump putting wasn't intended to be a part of the game. I've had the discussion with Carlton Howard who basically helped write the rules many times. It's been something that kinda creatively came out of the current rules that was never intended to happen and never been dealt with.

100% disagree. any putt from 5 6 feet I would literally fall forward and drop it in each time.

Sure but lots of lower level players will struggle to throw 100 feet without stepping through. That's where this fails IMO. I am not a big fan of jump putts, but I am a fan of being able to follow through. At 100 feet I am probably going to step through a bit just to maintain good form on my 100 foot putt

Our sport is insanely too easy. One of my favorite quotes about this game is from Cam Todd. "You can't make a hole I can't birdie"

I believe a lot of "out there" stuff, like the falling putt rule should be eliminated. I think it would make the game better, simpler, and more intuitive. I also believe in stand-and-deliver. And was forever against the 2m rule until it was eliminated. I sorta think the outer chains should come off the targets, too, though I'm still convincing myself of that one. I really believe these things, but I only post them to troll easy targets like MTL -- ha ha. |

Some of you aren't seeing the facts that...
1. Too many players don't know the existing rules, and too many of us that do don't enforce them. 2. If a new rule is imposed, the memo that it has changed won't get out to everyone, even 2-3 years after it has been adopted and we'll still have people playing by the old rules, and it doesn't do a damned thing about concern #1. 3. It will impose a logistical nightmare on TD's at big events who now have to be concerned how to mark where the new putting circle/restriction begins, when they have far more important things to do. They waste enough time, money and paint marking 10 meter circles as it is.
