Joliet Area 1-day trip! You tell me...
On October 14th 4 of us are driving up from St. Louis to the Joliet Area for a marathon day of golf. Here's my plan:
Leave out around 4am, arrive at west park dgc at 9. Highland Park (12:30pm?)next, then Round Barn DGC (3ish?). If there's enough light left (probably not), loop around to Community Park and then home that night. Any local cats out there think I chose correctly, or is there a better arrangement/selection? I want to hit the most quality courses possible in a single day. PS: Thank God for DGCR! We've done this a dozen times over the last couple years, all due to this site!

Why? Couldn't think of anywhere better to go?

Hmmm. Well, I'd say West, Highland, Trinity (longs) to start your day off. These are all close to each other and keeps your travel time to a minimum.
Then mix in Community if you have time (you should, if you disc efficiently). Edit: Definitely hit West first, that's where the chuckers will congregate as the day goes on...it'll slow you down immensely if you're not out of there before they start arriving.

Damn.
Seriously, though, those courses looked pretty decent on the site. We've cleared a goodish amount of MO/IL courses that meet our criteria (ie, 4 or so hour drive or less with at least 3 "good-looking" courses in very close proximity). The Chicago area is pretty untouched for us, so North we go. The question is always "Is this best use of the day?" So any input is welcomed.

So Trinity over Round Barn? How about community over Round barn?

Not sure how much of an extra drive it is for you (if any), but you could always do either Lemon Lake or some combination of Lemon Lake/Rogers Lakewood.
Just throwing that out there. ![]() The Joliet trio I mentioned above is always a fun time. None of those courses are world-beaters, but they are all fun to play (except West when it's super muddy). Trinity allows glow golf so you could save it for last in case you run out of daylight.

![]() I'll echo hit West first thing in the morning before the 1 disc chuckers wake up. (Unless you enjoy watching people jump putt with Champ Destroyers)

Highland would be my first choice easily, Round Barn and Trinity are both fun courses that are worth playing, Community is pretty and nicely groomed thanks to a lot of volunteer work but the golf isn't all that challenging, and West is a very fun deuce or die course with a lot of history.

Hey thanks for the suggestions! We did Lemon Lake/Rogers Lakewood a couple years ago! Awesome times!
So it looks like West, Highland, Round barn and then either Trinity or Community if time allows. Should be a good time!
