We all tee off from the same tee, it doesn't matter what the ladies tee is called.

Usually, the group I play in will play a round of "short odds" and then a round of "long odds". Mixing the tees up during a round to get a greater range of distances off the tee.

i think the main reason is that it's been the same way so long that people just accept it.

i'd be the most common answer you'd get if you asked a lot of ball golfers would be, "that's just the way it has always been".
