the saint reminded me of my beat up 2 year old pd i have in my bag. which is nearly identical to a fresh std as well. the only difference between the saint and td other than feel,is the distance potential the td has over the saint.
tb or eagle x is to pd saint is to std nearly identical in flights but one obviously has more distance potential over the other

Sounds good! I hope it has that magic glide like the River has. Not to say the Saint doesn't have glide but the River just has such effortless distance. For the record I'm maxing out around 355' on distance right now and I took out everything faster than a PD in my bag.

Just ordered a 167g S-TD. We'll see how it goes.

I throw PDs but have not thrown a TD. Someone earlier in the thread said its like a beat PPD? Is that true? If so I need to get me one. Loving my FD, is the flight similar to that, but more distance potential?

I really like STDs and CTDs but I don't care for the plus rim versions. They seem to be more over stable than normal. I have taken my worn PPD out for my STD as the flight is more gradual turns and less abrupt changes in direction.

Well I did some field work and the S-TD out shined the Saint today. There was a good amount of crosswind where I was throwing so take it for what it is. The Saint would always turn and start fighting back a little before it touched down when thrown flat. The TD would hardly wiggle left to right then just a nice forward fade. Some of this may be because the TD is new and the Saint has been in the bag since release (albeit rarely used)..IDK. I threw each about ten times. Trying different throws. I would say the only advantage the Saint had over the TD was it was easier to hyzer flip.
I do like the feel of the TD better as well. It sits nice in the hand. The convexed bottom wing just feels comfortable. I was getting maybe ten feet (365' vs 355') further than the Saint but thats not enough to make me pick one over the other but the other factors are. The TD just preforms better for what I was using the Saint for. Very controllable driver for me. Buh-bye Saints! |
