Last night, Steven announced that the name of the new distance driver will be the Vibram Lace.

Still no firm release date as of now.

Lace? Interesting name...don't know how that fits in with the rest of the line-up, but not bad at first blush.

It was a toss up between Lace and Tongue, with eyelet a distant third.

I shared the name with a couple players that tested the disc with me on Columbus Day and on hole 2, after chaining out with his 2nd shot with the new Lace, Mike Dussault said, "I Laced that drive!" It was music to my ears.

Regarding slick discs, yes, there is sometimes a mold release that does not get cleaned off of the discs and they feel slick initially. This will wear off over time or a quick wash with dish soap or boraxo type stuff gets them feeling right. I liked the washing in the ocean story. I'm going to pass this on to our chemist and see what he thinks might be going on there.

Recently I was doing some investigating and it seems that the pro end of the sport has stagnated and, imo, in order to kaboom the sport, we need to be on TV or at least internet TV (like DGPlanet). Here is a chart of the number of players that have earned $10K and $20K in the past decade.

I touched on our Grow the Sport page last night in my interview on DGTR. I'd like to know what you all think: http://www.vibramdiscgolf.com/grow-the-sport.html

I agree with everything you said in that grow the sport write up. I'd also like to add that we need to cut down the number of A-tiers every weekend. With so many tournaments offered per weekend, you are not going to get the best field of players at any of the tournaments. With better tournament coordination you won't only get a field that will grow viewership, but you could also set up a defined tour that logically moves throughout the country. And then your proposed ten 50k payout tournaments could be the highlight stops on this tour.

I have no clue how to go about this, but it probably has to be up to the PDGA. And I should note this is only for A-tiers and tournaments that could draw a good Pro crowd. There should be as many c-tiers and grassroots tournaments as possible to get more people out playing.

Edit: Oh and to increase membership and increase renewal rates, I think the PDGA needs to drop their fees. Maybe to $20 to first sign up and $10 to renew.

I totally agree with the idea that A-Tiers should be in a logical order to go along with the NT's.

I enjoyed the Grow the Sport write-up. I learned a lot. Can't wait to listen to the interview when it's posted.
