I have had all kinds of knee troubles over the years (already had three surgeries). I have had torn acl, mcl, minuscus, you name it. Playing disc golf can really irritate it and I get lots of swelling sometimes. I find that the only time i get bad pain is when I am not pivoting properly which in turn twists my knee and can cause severe pain. This is something I have to always be aware of or if I don't I pay the price everytime. I have also found that really grippy tee pads can sometimes keep me from rotating properly also and I have to really concentrate on not planting my foot down and getting no turn.

It's not severe pain. I can walk, flex my knee. Just tender on the outside and some in the pit of my knee.

I have considered getting an MRI to check things out (finally have health insurance) and see if there is a surgical remedy or if it will just heal on it's own.

thanks for the feedback guys!
Here's a story for the Optimist:

My knees caused pain since my late teens. When I got into my 40s, playing disc golf, and it became unbearable, I went to an orthopedist to get them fixed, whatever it took.

The orthopedist took one look, told me I "walk wrong", and prescribed exercises to stretch my hamstrings. Low and behold, a simple non-surgical cure, and by my early 50s I was playing without knee braces or any pain whatsoever.

(That lasted until I tore my meniscus recently. No such luck this time).

Use that health insurance and find out what's really going on. The answer will be helpful, no matter what it is.
