This will take two posts to get all the pages. It required 5 scans to gets all the pages. You might notice one glaring omission from the cali listings.

Yes, no Oak Grove. I was surprised to see that it wasn't listed. The course where it all began.

Does that say "Swope Lake Folf Course" on that NC listing?!

Yes...but it's in Missouri, not North Carolina.

Yeah...I'll get to them. Each time I open the guide, it looks as if I'm about to lose some pages. That being the case, it takes a little longer to be careful with the guide.

I've played 9 of the courses in CA that were listed at that time. I want to find out more about the one in Rescue that is no longer listed. Odds are that it is long gone, but if there is even a chance that it still exists I'm gonna play it.

Any way I could get a pic of the Nashville listings? I maintain and play cedar hill sunday mornings with the designers and builders of 7 oaks and cedar hill. I know theyd get a kick out of it.

Can you tell me if these two extinct Iowa courses are listed?

Please see if Oakdale Campus Course in Coralville or Iowa City is listed.

Also, please check for Margo Frankel Woods State Park in Des Moines or Altoona, Iowa.


I would love to see these courses added to the DGCR database.

I'll check. Years ago...I think it was 1990 or 1991 a friend and I took a 5 day tour of Iowa. We played a 9 hole course at the Coralville Reservoir. The same day we played Sugarbottom in Iowa City. Sugarbottom was my favorite course that trip. I remember getting directions from some local players to a course in the area that wasnt in the guide.

The directory is at my office and I'm out seeing clients all day today and tomorrow. I'll check Thursday.

There was also a course close by in Washington that has Tri State basket...with plastic chains that were weighted down in the middle so the chains looked like an upside down Christmas tree.

Discette...The only course listed in Altoona in the 1992 Directory is a 9-hole in Lions Park. Nothing in Des Moines but there are two courses listed in Urbandale. One at North Karen Acres Park...a 15 hole course and an object course at Walker Johnson Park. Both the Urbandale courses list a Kim Steele as the 'local pro' for those courses.
