Average would be around 475' for a 12 year old.

In all honesty, you should worry about throwing it where you want it for now. Worry about distance later. Accuracy, and putting. Concentrate on those. Oh, and having fun!

I really know a 12 year old that can drive 400+ft.

But really Don't focus on Distance kid and focus on putting and consistency in the fairway and approaches.

When I was 14 I could throw about 300, maybe a little more but I was a n00b then. When I was 15 almost 400, and this summer when i was 16 I was hitting 400 regularly or a little over, sometimes around 420. This summer I want to get to 450 but that is going to take a major technique breakthrough. I'm not very tall (only 5'6") so you don't have to be huge to throw decent distance (although being 6'8" does help)

250' isn't very far, you can prob hit that. It's easier when you start to throw far sidearm than backhand. Meaning it takes less physical effort to get the disc to spin good enough to get some D.

I think it takes a solid MONTH of lots rounds and thorws to get your muscles developed for a consistent backhand (which is why most people never convert), whereas you can come out on day 1 or 2 and get some OK distance with a flick. Same thing for overhands, esp if you are a baseball player. The trick is to start with a stable driver if you are gonna flick, it will offset your poor form until you figure it out.

I bet you can hit 250' almost right away and build up to 300' rather quickly.
