Iowa Park Disc Golf- Texas, Wichita Co

The City of Iowa Park texas, approved the 9 hole course south of Gordon Lake last night. They also approved 3 to 4 holes to be put in at the Middle School, for kids to learn the sport. We may be doing our first walk through next week to start designing the course.

The naming have yet to begin. I bet the guys will just want "Iowa Park Disc Golf Course" Or "Lake Gordon Disc Golf Course" . I am leaning to Hawk Pointe or Hawk's nest. The hawk is for the towns Mascot. But any name suggestions will be welcomed, well almost any names

Yeah, Iowa Hawks Nest would be cool.

So i believe we will be doing our first walk thru of the land on wed or fri this week. I have drawn up a course and so have a few others. I am curious to see if we have some overlapping ideas. Hopefully break ground before first of the year

So we went out and laid out a course design for city approval. We were given the go ahead to go measure and stake it out. Now just waiting for a final approval. Here is a teaser of how the course will end. Its about a 200 ft throw, with the spillway/wind tunnel playing from 140 to 190. And an ob road at about 250. I hope it will drive a few people crazy

It will open mid march to first of April. The city has decided to take their time while developing the course to make sure they get it right. The island hole is looking good, and they are working on installing a fountain for 7. They are also working on stairs for hole 10 and 11 off of the dam and a walkway over the spillway area in case it is ever wet people will not have to worry about mud
