You have some serious issues.

I have something similar, but smaller. How wide did you space the the wood that they are resting on? And how long have you been storing them on there? Im a bit worried about warpage.......thoughts?

The dowels are spaced 5" apart. I just built it last weekend, so 5 days.

I don't know what your worried about warping, the discs or the dowels. I don't think the discs are going to warp. One place around here has been using a similar rack for their sale discs for a couple years without any problems. I don't see how this is any different than storing them upright in a plastic box, and I haven't heard of warping issues with that.

I could see the dowels warping after awhile though. I used 3/4" dowels and had to add the wires in the middle of each dowel to support the weight of the discs. Now that I think about it, I should have divided the rack into 3 sections instead of 2. I would have only needed 12 4' dowels instead of the 16 4' dowels I used. And I wouldn't have 16 1' chunks left over. Would have saved about $10.

Did you screw in your dowel rods on each end or did you bore the sides of your rack out? I bored mine 3/4" so i only have 6 screws in the top of the rack and 6 in the bottom. It took significantly longer to build, but didn't want to run the risk of splitting the dowel rods by screwing them in. Plus if I decided to dress it up one day (stain/paint), I'd have less to putty. Just wondering if you screwed them and if it worked out ok?

^ This is 'Merica - we're all free to do what we want, so on and so forth... More power to all of you building rack upon rack to hold your discs. Personally, I think owning that much plastic is just this side of sanity, but hey, what do I know? I suppose it's no different than collecting stamps, coins, pokeman cards... Fun to see the stacks of plastic you accumulate.

^ if you drill pilot holes in the dowels, it should keep'em from splitting.

I bored out the sides and left the dowels loose as well.

I didn't have a bit that small at the time and I'm impatient I had the materials infront of me and just wanted to construct something

I know that feeling - the motivation hits you and you just make it work with what you got.
