I do all sorts of plastics. Currently using liquid RIT, and it's old enough don't worry, and using just the dye, maybe slight acentone mixing if it's necessary. Haven't experimented much, but looking to imporve some things if I can.

As for dye. There is nothing wrong with older rit. Including liquid rit. However the method you use makes a big difference. Dip dying, painting w/acetone, painting w/SC, etc. The dye, even the liquid rit needs to be mixed with something else to really get the dye to activate. If you are just using the dye straight from the bottle that is probably your problem. If you use acetone or alcohol you should get strong colors quickly. If you dip dye you need to go probably between 10 and 20 minutes depending on the plastic. Assuming that you are applying heat. Any other painting method you need much longer times. 2 hours plus.

This dye is a repeat, but I like to think it bears repeating since this is an eagle on an eagle

I use to just do straight dye out of the bottle, but have since started mixing just a small amount of acetone into them and that seems to work well. The dyes were all done on white star destroyers, so there shouldn't be an issue with color. Personally I think they all came out great, so I'm not really sure what my buddy was talking about when he said he was going to make the colors better. Either way, for doing everything without a plotter and simple hand eye coordination, my **** beats his hands down...I'm one of the best in the area I think, and can accomplish a lot of different works. Unfortunately many guys have gone from wanting to commission to wanting to learn, and I haven't been able to get as much work. I'll have to post some samples...
