Definition of Wooded (& Hilly) - regional differences

Yea the term itself isn't great, its just what popped in my head. I like the even mixture term more. Maybe make moderately wooded mostly wooded.

When I think of terrain, I think of topography and elevation changes (e.g. rugged terrain... doesn't have me picturing trees).
When I think of landscape, I think of plants (e.g. the sparsely landscaped or lush landscaping... gives no clue what role gravity plays).

I don't actually believe anyone's getting confused by this - just pointing out that it seems odd to me. Just thinking that if Tim's going to tweak anything, he might be able to fix that if doing so makes sense to most folks.

As has been pointed out (by many), I tend to think too much.

I never even noticed but I agree, Terrain should be the hilliness description, the terrain dictates water flow. Landscape is the descriptive features including vegetation.

I like that.

I think "Even Mixture" would also better describe the elevation/terrain for many courses.

So what would Nevin be? Heavily or moderately wooded?

I was thinking about this when playing Chavez Ridge in LA. None of the holes have much elevation change at all, but if you miss your line you can roll 80 vertical feet down hills that the holes only play across. I would consider it mostly flat, but if you defined it based on the (potential) walk it would be in the moderately to very hilly categories.

I player Sertoma Field today. The description on this site was spot on for what I would consider the course. Moderately wooded.

I think thats both funny and awesome that NC has ana issue under estimating how wooded holes are.. Guess thats why the more I play, and the more people I have come play Simple Pleasures, the more trees I cut.. NC tough to judge tho, what some in NC call hills in Charlotte I call mounds
