He probably simply means they are new discs, not a new mold and that he will be retiring them. The bigger question is, surely you are not contemplating doing this with just 2 discs and a putter? I mean there's gonna be discs at every hole waiting on you right?

That does not answer why the predator and meteor are not ones he is familiar with.
I read 5 pages back, and even commented. I am still unsure why he wants to set the goal in the winter durining minimal light hours either. If you have 40 volunteers you should maximize your chances by playing in maximal light.

He is using it as a fundraiser so his team can attend collegiate nationals in
April. If he waits until summer they miss nationals which is the initial spark and probably a large motivator in this endeavor.

Ok thanks. Maybe his teammates can shine headlights on parts of the course to help him.
You can also throw a fundraiser party to celebrate the record to get more funds.

Doing this in June to raise money for a trip in April would seem problematic at best.

Raise money for next year. With all of the support he should still be able to get the record, but if he can do this now, he can shatter it in June. Maybe another fundraiser? New uniforms for the fall?

These are two specific discs I have never thrown. The mold is in my bag and I am very familiar with both of them.

The course is relatively lit up at night, we have lights on the discs and devices that light up the baskets like Christmas trees
