Max number of players on the field.
I'm going to TD a Birdie bash in Knoxville, and I need to know whats the average , Max number of players that u guys do. It is 5 per card for 18 holes for 90 payers. or 4 per card for 18 holes for 72 players? thanks in advance

What exactly is a birdie bash?
We've always filled up to a maximum of 5 per card here, unless there were circumstances that limited us to doing only four. Occasionally to accommodate a few more players, we would add temporary holes and/or a ghost card. If this birdie bash is some type of abbreviated play format like an Ace Race, you could probably get away with six per card. If its a standard tournament, I'd leave it at no more than five.

5 per hole should be max. It's the common standard around here, though at Stoney Hill we limit to 4 per hole because, personally, I don't like fivesomes.
Many events have a max, but don't come anywhere near it. It's there "just in case".

I have no problem with 5/card.

90 on 18 holes is the normal cap. Some TDs will go to
100 by adding a couple of ghost cards. |

With a birdie bash format you can probably even add more than the usual, it's going to be quick play without putting out on every hole, and even if it is a little slow it's a casual event and that leaves more time for trash talking etc. I wouldn't see a problem with 6somes in a birdie bash or ace race event even though I hate them in standard tourney play.

For regular tournaments, I do not like 5 on a card, makes the pace too slow. However, for a Birdie Bash, 5 should be good. We ran up to 6 on a card for an Ace Race, but I would not go 6 for a Birdie Bash.

I agreed with 5 being too slow. While you won't get a real back up since every card has 5, each player has to wait a long time between throws. Not sure how BB format will fix this. Sure the round won't take long since you don't always finish but at the tee pad you still have to wait for four other people.
