Cool.
Had my first 400' drive today, so this is helping. ![]() Current areas of focus: - Shifting 80/20 weight from back leg to front leg during the backswing - Keeping the disc loose until the last second of the shot, then gripping tightly - Leading with the elbow on the release - Keeping the disc suspended and allowing the hip/shoulder rotation to pull it across

Birdied a 500' par 4 today after a 410' drive.
I was happy, and this thread has been helpful. Just wanted to share.

Had a friend video a couple throws yesterday when I was showing him how to throw.
Very little run-up, but I've been throwing like this more and more unless I really need to bomb it.

Any thoughts about weight transfer, moving around the disc, the line of the disc, etc?

It looks a bit smoother than before. Your steps are flat footed, very long and slow your hip speed. Hip speed multiplies arm speed. You turn back early and forward early still. You don't want your arm to extend back fully until you are about to hit the ground with your plant foot, which will help create rhythm. You want to turn the hips and shoulder more back and forth for more width of the arm form the chest, instead of being so focused on back to front weight shift. You barely get the elbow forward of the shoulder and in a good power pocket or access close to the chest. You also fire the hips before your front foot is braced, so your weight transfer and core torque from the ground is not optimal.

Okay... my version of what you said:
- Flat footed... no argument... I was wearing super clunky hiking shoes, so that's my excuse - Steps are definitely too long, totally agree - I think I know what you mean by turning back too early, but I'm not as clear on turning "forward" too early - As far as the hips and shoulders comment, are you saying I should be rotating more to create more reachback? (not from my arm but from the rotation?) - I think you're saying I'm losing power because I'm not driving enough with the elbow - The timing of firing my hips I think it bad because I'm stepping so far forward and not really transferring my weight to the front, but maybe I'm wrong? So my takeaway from this is to shorten my steps (definitely), delay my reachback (pretty sure), rotate my hips and shoulders more (I think?), plant my front foot solidly and get my weight up front before firing the hips (pretty sure), and be sure to extend the elbow in front (pretty sure). Does that sound right or did I totally miss it?

As far as "clearing the hips"...
I'm interpreting this in my x step as: (remember LHBH) - Step 1: left foot to the left and slightly forward, hips basically neutral - Step 2: right steps behind me, hips clearing to the right, shoulders also clearing to the right, creating more reachback (just before the next foot hits, my reachback should be fully extended) - Step 3: left foot plants on my heel, then hips clear to the left, shoulder and then elbow follow through Is that right?

Pretty much...this might vary slightly depending on person to person and is a bit hard to label in steps because there's many things happening.
Step 1: Hips/shoulders still forward. Step 2: Hips/shoulders pivot to neutral and clear all the way to the plant. Step 3: Land on the toes, keep weight on the inside arch down to the heel. Fire hips then shoulder then elbow, then wrist. Ignore the 360 part, but pay attention to the sequencing.
