Roy G. Guerrero Par for Holes

http://www.dgcoursereview.com/course...d=5424&mode=hi

I played Roy. G. last weekend again. I noticed that the pars on the tee signs don't match the pars listed in the link above.

For example, the signs had some holes' pars at 5 and there is not a single 5 listed on that page.

Why is that? Who decides what the pars are?

Par is pretty arbitrary. The hole's par is whatever you think it is. A lot of the course's in my area list VERY generous pars for their holes. An SSA 48 course in the area has a par on the card of 70... Another course did not change one basket but dropped the par on the card by 5 strokes and a lot of casuals were up set...

What does the number on the card/sign really mean? Not a whole lot. The only one that matters is the number you right down yourself.

All 18 tee signs are pictured on the media page:

There is not a single par 5 pictured, and all the pictures exactly match the pars on the hole info page.

So are you saying the pictures are wrong, and there are now tee signs that list par 5's?

I guess I'm wrong. I thought I saw some par 5's. Sorry.

The debate about par comes up way too often here. You might as well be arguing about politics and religion, it gets so heated.

The course was launched with temporary tee signs -- and I bet that's where the real answer begins
