My guess is that none of the new ones are out to retail yet as all the initial orders were probably the original type. I also bet they warehoused a good number of the first kind, so it's anyone's guess as to how and when to get one. Best bet is to order from a retailer that cycles inventory quickly and has someone knowledgeable to hand pick them for you.

From a very similar question a couple of posts above: The new type have a much higher PLH and reduced flash on the bottom.

Picked up a 172 Pink Shock last night and hit cage with it today!
I was very impressed with its ability to hold a straight line when released flat and finish with a dependable amount of penetrating fade and excellent glide. The Shock I found to be dependable and a workhorse regardless of the amount of power I put into it. Reminds me a lot of my 11x Teebird that is now retired due to MVP's fairway lineup. |

Felt one of these things today and it felt terrible in my hands. The rim was like concave where you grip it and seemed impossible to get a good grip on. Same terribly slick/hard mvp plastic. No idea why people throw their products.

It seems you lack empathy.

It's messy in the name of progress. In 4 years there won't be any of those first ones on the market anymore, until then education is your only friend. The answer is in the flash...the new ones are really smooth compared to all the other drives made before, almost no flash at all. If you already have another MVP driver to compare it to then you will have no trouble discerning which type you have before you.
