Exactly, I do the same thing with OS discs side arm to get the max distance possible and it works great. Only bad thing is for me is if I do it too much it messes with my form and I need to go back to basics of throwing back on a flat plane.

i throw flex shots with overstable stuff coming through on a slight hyzer and wrist roll, it decreases the laterlal movement of the flex and keeps it more line drive. very useful

Jen, forgive the tone in my response, it's nothing personal:

I don't think intentional OAT is essential, I know it is.

I think OAT is fine as long as you know what it is and when and why you are using it.

Another good question might be: Do you or should you use OAT when going for maximum distance?

I'm not at the level yet, where OAT is something I can consciously manipulate. Seems like I read a previous thread about using it for a later-breaking turnover shot. Like, 200 ft straight/flat, and THEN a right turn (for rhbh.)

Is this sort of what we're talking about here?

Sometimes I put too much on it; it goes sideways then.
I definitely OAT my spike hyzers, especially if I'm throwing them from further out.

That's probably not the way you should use OAT.

Only enough to get the nose down.

I think it's different for most who start on drivers that are too fast for them. I know I was amazed the first time I saw someone pull hyper. I had compensated for overly fast drivers by pulling anny and from high to low, which costs a lot of power. Basically, just throwing air bounces with fast drivers. Learning to hyzer flip beat leopards and stingrays based on advice here and on DGR was a head trip for me.

Agreed. And I also agree that it isn't something beginner's should get in the habit of using. I spent years working on using as little to no OAT if possible, and have recently in the last couple years using it to my advantage. Mostly for shaping shots with fairways...

I do this a lot. I'll roll under often to absolutely make sure I don't roll over if I'm throwing an understable disc with oomph. They cancel each out and I'll get a decently straight flight. 2 wrongs don't make a right but sometimes they can make a straight.
