I love the hand warmers. My hands get cold very easily then start to stiffen up and I cannot release properly. When I keep a hand warmer in my glove though it is not a problem. They stay nice and toasty.

In the past, I've always used a hand warmer in the right pocket of my outer layer, but this year I started using a hand warmer inside a muff and it's much warmer. It lets me keep both hands together and I don't even wear gloves anymore.

I typically don't bother with gloves until it's below about 20, above that I just keep the zippo hand warmers in my pockets and keep my hands in there as much as possible.

I think having calloused hands helps keep them from drying out... maybe the extra layers of skin? I keep a lava-type rock in my car and roll it around in my hands every other day or so, especially my throwing hand and the fingers that get the most friction from throwing but I've been doing this long before I started playing disc golf because I like being able to use my hands without worrying about cuts and abrasions.
