The Philo putting clinic really helped sharpen up my putts.

Thanks phimdel and Brother Dave.
Finger "spring" and a slight spin from the thumb and pointer finger should put the disc on a better trajectory. Right now my knuckleball push release is just flappin in the wind. Heck, i think the disc even flipped upside down on a couple I tried last night. Today I'll try the finger push / spring and see how it goes. For one thing I'm already committed to using and keeping this style of putting. The idea of releasing in this fashion instead of a spin throw has to be dramatically more consistent and on target. |

Ive been working on Dave's method as well over the last few months. One thing I found that really helped was focusing on the "hit". Namely, being very slow and methodical and then in just the last bit of the putt, give it some real speed as you reach out towards the basket.
Took me a good couple weeks but I went from a 10 foot confidence circle, to feeling pretty solid at 18-20 and even hit my fair share of 25's! Good luck! |

I'm no pro and by no means am I a good putter but what I've learned from all the videos I've watched is this: the most important part of the putt is the last foot or so when your arm extends and the putter gets ejected out of your hand...it's a fast motion that gets the disc moving toward the target...it doesn't matter how slow the initial arm movement is as long as you speed up at the last part of the arm swing...once you add the finger spirng and the fast motion upwards towards the basket you will be able to make the disc go straighter and farther....just remember to always have a good weight shift as well as that fast motion towards the basket and you will start making more putts. one more thing...KEEP YOUR CHIN UP!

At a NSDG clinic Feldberg was telling us a long story of tournament where he couldn't hit a putt to save his life. In the end, the problem was going too fast. He stressed that the arm motion should be slow and steady; you only want to move fast when you 'release' the putter.
That little bit of advice helped me out BIG TIME.

That Feldberg clinic video is awesome. I watched it a couple of years ago and committed to changing to that style from my previous spin putt approach. I'd say it took the better part of a season for it to really start to feel natural and get some zip on it. Now putting is the best part of my game.
