If you know its going to hyzer before it gets to the basket when you are farther out, why don't you just put it out to the right a little bit more?(assuming you are right-handed)

Many people find that putters in the 165g-168g range act just like their heavier counterparts but carry a few feet farther with the same power. I'd start there.

Confidence. You need to go out there and know you will hit chains. Visualize your shot into the basket and don't loose concentration during your stroke. Lighter weight discs are one route, you could also grab something more understable.

When you say that it hyzers out before reaching the basket, do you mean that you arent making enough power to get it to the basket, or are you getting enough power to get it to the basket, but you aren't getting it aimed where you need it?

If you have enough power, but hyzering out by going left of the basket is your problem, you could try what I do for long distance putting. When it comes to putting farther out(depending on the disc you use and the distance) I start adding a bit of anny to the disc to counteract the fade. The amount I add depends on how far I am out, and what disc I am using.

If you just can't make it to the basket, use your legs to generate power. I also find jump putting very awkward, and don't do it.

I will second Walker. Confidence is key for putting. Go practice and get comfortable.

I don't think changing to "insert your favorite putter here" is the complete answer. I change my putting style to more of a throwing style outside the circle. I'm not recommending this, but changing your stance and style to gain the power needed to keep the disc flat will likely help. I guess it is almost always about the practice.

I think about carry and drop rates a lot by putter model and weight.
Here's a challenger "conversion" chart.

173-174g 30' of power =
170-172g 33' of power =
167-169g 35' of power =
164-166g 38' of power.

Basically, the amount of pop you need on a max weight to carry 30' will carry a 164-166g challenger 38'.

JR: when you pitch putt, raising your release point by 2" has SIGNIFICANT effects on the flight because the higher you release the more upward and less outward the force vector is upon release. It also messes with nose angle tendencies. You can always bend your arm to raise the base height of the arc of the plane, but then you've added a variable to mess up.

Chances are he's already at max power (before the technique starts to fail consistently) and still hitting tray. For a challenger putter at max weight with a pitch putt, tray starts becoming regularly st roughly 28'.

Work on shifting your body weight more effectively, develop a rhythm and practice until it's natural and putt with confidence rather than having to worry about which putter you should use, weather it's a good choice, if the wind will effect the lighter weight.... Blah blah blah. Your current putter is perfectly capable of repeatedly banging chains at any distance that any other putter is.
