Accepting cash in sanctioned doubles

I'm playing in a sanctioned XB-tier doubles tournament with a 1900 point rating cap. My partner and I both play advanced and neither of us are pro's.

If we accept cash in a sanctioned doubles tournament, will that classify one of us a pro?

Seems like it shouldn't because it's doubles, I mean we're not even getting a rating for this, but the rules for when someone turns pro is so odd to begin with, and there is cash involved, I figured I need to make sure.

Thanks!

Yes, accepting cash in a pro division of any sanctioned event constitutes turning pro. Doubles, no ratings, whatever, doesn't matter. Cashing is cashing.

But it is also done on an individual basis, so you could accept cash and your partner decline it (or vice versa). Or both accept or both decline. Just make sure whatever the case is going to be is clearly told to the TD before everything gets underway so he can adjust his payouts if need be.

Not entirely true.

You can accept cash in a sanctioned Superclass event and still be a am in non-superclass event. Also, cash in league events doesn't change am status.

But everything else you said is correct.
