I get way more excited about metal hits in general. I think aces are overrated.

I finally got my 3rd ace (2nd of the year) last night after 12 metal hits or chain-outs that didn't stick. It felt good to finally have one stick again.

Add me to the list of several metal/chain hits, but no aces. I can think of at least three hard hits on chains that slid on by. And my wife was spotting for me a couple of days ago on a blind tee shot, and says that I missed an ace by about 6". Would have been weird for her to see the ace, but not me!

Ugg.. worse than metal-hit near-aces, in my opinion, are metal hits that still end in pars. Throwing a Zone, I smashed through the right side of the chains on hole 13 at the local course (Alton Baker).. only to have my disc immediately slide directly under the thickest part of the huge filbert cluster just to the right of the basket. I could barely take a stance behind the disc, and had zero possibility of getting into the basket, despite being only ~8ft. away from it. Best I could do was slide my disc about 2 inches off the ground to underneath the basket for an ignoble par. :P

2 weeks ago I had one hit the ring that holds the top chain link. one inch lower and I have my first ace. Have had 2 chain outs. I would rather miss the basket alltogether.

I hit one in practice, and it stuck. It was the first shot of that round not in the dirt or the trees. And now in regular rounds I can't reproduce it. Frustrating to be so close but not actually have it.

Just grip it and rip it.

Ah the elusive ace... I cant count on my hands how many times ive hit the basket, or splashed the chains without sinking that shot from the tee. Ive been throwing a little over 5 years and only hit 2 aces so far. its a nice feeling dinging metal, but even better when it stays in... Keep at it, it'll come.
