No, they are lazy. There are a few guys every year that know they are better than the field trying out and use the rounds as practice to qualify. Its BS, especialy if the event is not full before the 5 guys. The 5 spots should be open to unqualified people. So a good pro that HAD life happen and didnt make an NT, could still qualify. Nikko doing this, its a shame. Touring pro's know they are going to the USDGC. If they can't make it...they can always cancel. In some cases they arent even paying entry anyway so it isnt a money issue.

Yea I agree that if pros that have already qualified miss the deadline they should be able to requalify on monday but without taking away one of the 5 spots from a non qualified player.

imagine if Tiger Woods didn't sign up for the US Open and then showed up to the qualifier and took the spot away from a guy not on tour.

A couple years ago I went and played and payed the fee but didn't even register my name. I just wanted to play the course. But I think it was only $30 that year. That was nice.

and that costs money correct? i think it has been a fund raiser for Habitat for Humanity. $10.00 is what it was 2 years ago.

Except that Nikko qualified by finishing in the top 10 at last year's USDGC and had until Aug 31 of this year to register, and Cale qualified at The Memorial in Feb, so both of them had more than ample time to build their schedules around competing. So both had more than ample time and opportunity to arrange their schedules around attending, but chose not to register within their respective registration windows. I highly doubt that either would have failed to register on time if they weren't eligible to compete in Monday Qualifying.

Looks like my dreams of Monday qualifying are slowly diminishing haha.

Nikko, Cale and MJ are all trying to Monday qualify. I'd say that's probably 3 of the 5 spots gone right there.
