Directions to the course

Directions given in California: Drive 20 miles down the highway towards Aspenville and get off at the first exit. From there drive a few more miles to the parking lot. The first hole will be on your right near the pine tree. Oh, also, you can get McDonald's really closeby.

Directions in other places: From the north on I-5, take exit 242 towards Aspenville and head west on route 22 for 3.4 miles. The parking lot will be on your right side one block after you pass Main street. The first tee is near the southeast end of the park. Oh, also, here is the address in case you would like to plug that into a GPS.

Just moved to California, enjoying a few more detours than usual...already revised a bunch of courses with new directions, probably won't revise them all

Yeah, we've got some directions givers who don't seem to realize that...

1. Not everyone gets to the course the way they do, and what might be a left turn for them, will be a right turn from the other direction. Hint: Until you get to the actual park, its best to use terms like North, East, South, West instead of left, right, straight.
2. Things in the real world don't always appear as they do on Google maps. Hint: Use real world highway and street designations that someone going to the course in the real world would actually see.
3. Not everyone has a smartphone or GPS on them. Hint: Write your directions for someone as if they didn't have such devices available, because someone who does probably doesn't need them.

Here's a good one for you. The directions to get to the course in Lewiston.

Quote:
Park at the church. First hole is 100 feet from parking lot.
I'm not sure I would have found it if I wouldn't have stoped at the store there in town for a beer.

My favorite:

"
Local Directions: From I-80 west, exit at Ogallala and follow signs to US 26, west to Bridgeport, US 385 north to Alliance, northeast part of town, Box Butte north to about 22nd street, #1 just west of lot
"

Those directions START 120 miles from the course. And they're only correct if you are driving west on I-80.
