discraft vortex??
i found a weird disc a while back and just re-found it in my closet while cleaning today and thought i would see what you know-it-all's have to say about it. its a discraft vortex with a 1990 pdga worlds stamp. its a wider diameter disc, weighs 174g. here are some pics of the disc...i guess what im wanting to know is, is it crap or is it worth tossing around. its a misprint cause it has a black and a shiny silver stamp overlapping, looks pretty cool though. anyways, here are some pics...

The Vortex was the first Discraft version of a Roc. One from '90 Worlds would be a very early run of them, so yours will be the old Pro Dish Competition plastic. Later the disc was switched to Tournament Pro plastic.
It's a pretty good disc. The Competition plastic ones were better than the Tourney Pro versions. The Tourney Pro ones were domey and flippy, the Competition plastic was a bit flatter and more stable. When I started playing, it was really the only mid Discraft made. Having said that, they were flipper than a Roc and really were never all that popular. So I'd say it worth tossing, but I don't expect that you will fall in love with it or anything. Still, I think it's a cool find. If I saw one I'd pick it up. They have a pretty goofy wing on them. It's very concave, almost like the wing on the old Dolphins if you have ever seen one of those. Just for that I like to keep one around.

Looks like it's already been tossed. If so, it's not worth collecting, so mind as well throw it.

i used to throw them back in the day- i found them to be more overstable than the ontario rocs available at the time.

Cool stamp, I bet it's cool to look at when you spin it on your finger, almost hypnotic.

The one in the picture is a TP Vortex. In both the Vortex and the Hawk, I thought the Competition plastic ones were better. They molded up flatter and were more stable in Competition plastic VS the TP plastic. However as I recall it, the Vortex was switched over to TP exclusively unlike the Hawk which was available in both. Because of that the Competition Vortex got fairly hard to find. It was a good disc, though. It was kind of a mystery to me why it went OOP. Discraft dumped some molds when the Elite Pro discs came out, and as I recall the Vortex was basically replaced by the MRX even though I thought they were very different discs.

That's one of the good ones. It's one of the older ones before they switched over to TP.
