A guy at my course cut out a circle in the center of his fairway driver. It was slow, super straight, and had absolutely zero fade.

So he proved that having ALL the weight in the rim makes discs neutral and that golf discs aren't shaped to work with the flightplate missing.

What disc was it by the way? I have thrown really understable (knockoff) rings, so the shape does still matter to the overall stability.

It wasn't a huge hole, the guy was a newb, no stamp, he had no idea what it was. All he said (RHBH) was that it cut hard left. He didn't have much snap or form, it worked ok for him though.
