I did it. I gave in and bought an Ion yesterday. I'm not usually one for these "new" discs, as I like to stick to the tried and true. I throw the classics; Aviars, Rocs, Buzzzes, Destroyers, Teebirds, and Firebirds. I admit that I have my doubts, but we will see. It feels a bit too floppy for me, but I will give it a shot. Time will tell.......

Did you get a soft or medium? If it feels too floppy to you, it sounds like you may prefer a medium. Nonetheless congrats and have fun!

I have no idea. How do I tell? Everything that was on the rack felt the same. I didn't even know they came in different stiffness levels.

They are marked with either an 'M' for medium or 'S' for soft next to the written weight. Also curious if these are the new clears or earlier opaques?

I got a Med to see what the hype was about but I don't like it at all. I will give it a bit more time but I don't like the feel of the plastic and even the Med is too soft for my liking. I do think it would help my form if I continue to throw it because it seems very OAT sensitive. I am throwing it FH for drives and upshots at the moment it didn't do to bad for putting but it will never replace my Wizards for putting.

I'll take a look when I get home this evening. I do know that it is an opaque orange 173. It was the heaviest that the shop had. Maybe I should have ordered it online.

Keep in mind that the PDGA doesn't really want manufacturers making discs any stiffer than MVP's medium plastic. Other companies do make stiffer discs, but they are not supposed to. They often use the excuse that they couldn't anticipate with great accuracy how stiff the discs would mold up and they can't afford to lose their investment $$. Because of this, the PDGA is lenient at this time. MVP has proven they can make consistent discs and that their discs come out as they anticipate, so they couldn't really get away with this excuse. I'm pretty sure they are all about following the rules anyway. They are setting a new standard for professionalism imo.
