Chuck often stands by the argument "stats don't prove you correct". Well, maybe not, but I'll tell you what... do you get better over time by playing people your skill level or worse, or by playing your skill and better? When I played tennis in high school, the only reason I got better was that I learned from the people who were better than me. Maybe one tournament is not enough to show a statistical difference, but I have a feeling that people who challenge themselves often see the greatest improvements.

And Pete is right here. If you are competing with 4 other people for their prize money and trophy... you should be able to play against them directly whenever possible. An int player should not be playing with an open player. It's not fair to everybody.

Playing with better players on average does not impact how well you play DURING the round. If it helps improve your game, it's because you maybe learned something you can practice AFTER the round.
