The thing that threw me off my game in my first tourney was the speed of play. I usually play alone or with one other person, so it was a shock at how much waiting there was. So if you're used to fast rounds, be prepared to wait.

Take deep breaths before putting and never assume something is a gimme focus on every putt.

I learned this the hard way. I was playing a tournament in Mobile Al. Had a short putt on the first hole,and was talking to a friend when I went to putt and bam I hit the top of the basket.
