I guess it all depends on the intended use. I actually like the home ski baskets.
They'd definitely give a course a unique flavor and vibe for casual play, but I wouldn't want to play a tourney on them.

If you're looking for commercial baskets on the cheap, what about Lightning DB-5's @ $210/ea? They seem OK to me, but to be honest, I'm not familiar with them.

The only downside I can think of is that if they ever decide to expand to a tournament style course they will probably have to purchase new baskets that are PDGA approved. But for 30-40 bucks a pop they will probably be able to afford to replace them if it comes to that. Plus you could probably auction those off and turn a profit over the initial investment anyway.
good point!

Of course DISCatchers are inconsistent. They are made by Innova.

LOL

I have 3 Discatcher Pros and 3 Discatcher Sports.

One is a "Bar Stamp Era" Pro with a different type of chain holder assembly on the yellow band top. Looks cool but the chains are a tad shorter AND lighter grade. Also the bottom part of the basket is almost 3" lower than normal discatchers. This bad boy spits like no other basket.

The other two are "Swoosh Stamp/Current Era" Pros that have the current chain holder setup and heavier chain that you see at the course. These catch well but both have developed a "lean" where the Yellow Band and chain holder part are attached to the top of the pole. I'd try to bend it back but don't want to bust the part where it attaches to since I'd have to weld it back on, which is no picnic.

They're baskets at least.

The Sports are so-so. Had 4 of them at first but 2 had crap welds on the lower basket and broke within DAYS. The other 2 are holding up great with a little rust on the zinc plated chains.

They're light baskets at least.

My DB-5 looks just like the day I bought it back in 2009. Heavy as hell but catches great and NO RUST.

I also have 2 Chainstars that look and catch great. Plus, they are over 10 yrs old with NO RUST.

IMO the Chainstars are the way to go for perm. installation.

I think that the DGA Mach II runs about 295.00 each, they only have 2 layers of chain and only 18 at that but they are not a bad basket for an inexpensive one, of course if you get a whole course I would think you could get a better deal
