Exactomundo

18 holes or more, and rated over 3 is worth playing

^ Same thing with most 9 holes around 3. i have found a few around me that aren't me really worth playing that are 18. Pretty much everything is Green Bay, Wisconsin. I'd take Wittkopf and Shu Pond(both Oconto Courses) over everything in Green Bay.

I've heard that. I've thought about taking a day and bagging Green Bay courses, but I've been told they're all pretty weak.

For this reason, I often find myself rating down Gold level courses because the par-3's (one drive holes) are often in the 380-430' range. That leaves me (and my 330' arm) with a NAGS upshot whether I throw a great drive or a mediocre drive.....and makes that hole no fun to play. This extrapolates out to well designed Gold multi-throw holes, of course.

If I rated a given Gold course highly because I think the intended/target audience will love it, then I have to do the same thing for elementary school courses if I want to be intellectually honest/consistent. Then, my honesty/consistency makes my ratings much less useful/meaningful.
agree 100%. Your review is about how you liked a course. Hopefully you explain why (and I know you do this). reviews are always subjective.
