Its less that they are super absorbent, and more that they are super absorbent for their weight, relative to a cotton terry towel, and that they wring out and dry way better/faster.

Real chamois rocks for super wet rounds but there are some cons. Mostly its old skin and it stinks accordingly. When its dry out they are rigid and don't absorb well until they have a bit of moisture in them. But for that occasional super wet day long round they will keep your discs dry without going through tons of them. Warm Michigan winter days where there was plenty of melting snow to provide wetness on every single shot they came in handy. But god forbid you don't air dry that sucker and leave it in your car, not to mention the smell left on your hands.
