I know. = )

I think the pars for Roy G are probably ok. It's just a really tough course.

On the front nine I was only 4 over from the short tees (and I'm not the best player in the world).

The back nine killed me. I think there are some holes back there that I will never, ever par. I took an 8 on 15, I think, for example. = /

They are at Texas States but for MA2.

IMO the LONGS have maybe 3 holes that could change to Par 5 if you are > MA2.

In other words, if you are a red/blue level player then there are probably technically two or three Par 5's from the long boxes, if you catch my drift. These 2 or 3 holes would still be Par 4's for Advanced-Open level players, though.

But yes, the signs were put up hastily for Opening Day and have never been corrected. Most of the distances are listed ~10% too short (So if it says 300' then it's really about 330').

Rumor has it that they had the GPS range set on meters instead of yards (or vice-versa) and did the conversions wrong, by dividing by 3 (ft/yard) instead of 3.28 (ft/meter), or vice-versa (sorry my brain isn't working in the a.m.). That would account for an approximate 10% deviation.

There is one hole out there, can't remember which one or the exact distances, that is listed at about 720' and is actually like 830'. So yeah, 100' off...

Manor is a much more complete challenge. Roy G. is heavily crusher-friendly.

You could say that....still would love to play Roy G or the Met along with Manor.

The Met isn't really a great "crusher course" as you can throw 320ft all day and shoot 1030 golf.

Ok, I'll just say it. That is why they are all par three. No confusion, no debate.

True! Luckily more and more courses are matching par to SSA so that Par is truly a good score.

All three of the courses used do this very well.

Par does matter, especially at a sanctioned tournament. And it should be based on the SSA for the hole, not what makes it easierbfor you. If a player is late he gets par+4. And I know a lot of intermediates who'd be happy to take a "gimme 7" on some of the holes at Roy G (if they were all marked par 3). With those marked at the correct par, being late might cost them an 8 or 9.
