Fremont Ca has a well know School for the Deaf. Founded 1860, 9 baskets around the school, though the baskets don't look 150+ years old. I don't know any personally.

There's quite a few here in Upstate SC. One dude got an ace during the Ice Bowl a couple weeks back, didn't say a word.

Hey Ziggy, this is D.J. up in Wausau. Good to see you're on DGCR. My girlfriend is teaching me to sign actually. She works with a hearing impaired lady. I actually went to an elementary school that had a great program for hearing impaired children. I knew the basics back then and hope to be able to relearn.
Anywho I hope to see you again at the Wednesday Yellowbanks doubles. If you make the trip up here this coming summer. I'll be running it this year. We get some pretty decent ace pots going and hopefully the back 9 will be complete by the end of summer. |

I'm from Springfield IL (i know who u are Kent [he's like a celebrity in Springfield] but if you don't know who i am I'm the tall red headed guy) and I have been fortunate to play with quite a few deaf players over the past few years. My first experience was in 2009, when I had just started casually playing Springfield's Wednesday night leagues. The Deaf Nationals tournament was in town, so on that wed. league night we played 1hearing 1deaf partners best disc doubles. Not only was it my first time playing doubles, but it was my first experience really interacting with deaf people. And oh my day was it a GREAT experience. I found it extremely interesting having to communicate with my deaf partner, whom I'd never met before. All around GREAT experience. Over the past 2 years, in my 40ish tournaments, Ive encountered a few deaf players but most notably James Forgy (frog) and Ron Moberly from Springfield and Jacksonville respectfully. They are a blast to play with, have introduced the game to other deaf individuals, and in 1 tournament, I played on their card first round and they both had deaf caddies too. Thrilled the Deaf Nationals are in Springfield again. MIDWEST
