I definitely intentionally bend my knees. It requires a lot less active effort to shift weight when my knee is bent and braces like that(and being on your toes). Feldberg's pendulum pump keeps his front shoulder down and body weight with the disc, otherwise the straight knee would lead to a lot of spin outs and nose up stalls.

I've experimented extensively with both styles. Plenty of good things to learn from each way, but both styles have the same main goal -- Get things moving forward!
