that was wrong. he can't add strokes because you didn't sign the scorecard. If you don't sign it, you assume the responsibility that the math is correct. Only if the total at the end is wrong (the 9 hole sums don't matter either), do you get the score corrected, then 2 strokes added...

The player only gets a 2-throw penalty if the total score entered is wrong or there's no total score recorded at all. Signing/initialing the card is optional with no penalty if you don't presuming your total score entered is correct.

I've gotten the two stroke penalty twice. It sucks, but from now on you'll double check that card everytime.

My first cash too!

Well after two more rounds of pretty consistent play I cashed in my first PDGA also! Its crazy how I shoot one stroke better each round today and have worse round ratings, oh well I didnt make enough of my jumper's this weekend to have deserved it.. your putter is really gonna have to be on this year to win

OP's story nearly sounds like my first tournement, minus the fact that I was nowhere near cashing. And I was hooked. Good luck not playing another tournament.

very true, i read cold and started thinking freezing temps till i read texas. it was 26* at dragan field ME, on the 2nd at that tourny. in fairness it wasnt that cold. some of the locals just had long sleeves. Power to them.
