Anyone ever take a train to DG?

I wonder how feasible it would be to Amtrak to a course out of state, anyone ever tried this?

We've thought about it, but you'd have to either find a course right near a train station, or find a local who will come get you, show you around the course, then take you back to the station. It would be a cool way to do it if you could make it work.

We actually almost took that ferry going the other way this fall, but we got stuck in town for a day and had to change our plans. I would still like to do that, drive up into wisconsin, take the ferry over, and com back down the other way around the lake.

I like the idea of travelling to somewhat far away courses via train so I'm going to give this thread a nice little bump...

Anybody have any good course suggestions that are within walking distance of an Amtrak train station?

There is a course right in the heart of Denver that has a light rail(train basically) station right by hole #1. Would be the perfect course to take a train to. If there were trains the weren't just for coal out here in the mountains I would try it. But unfortunately I'm stuck driving my car up and down mountain passes.

I've taken a train to a course in England, but I'm not sure that really helps you.

There are usually alternate transportation options that connect with the train station like buses, hotel shuttles or rental cars. If a course isn't too far from a hotel, their shuttle might even drop you and pick you up at the course.
