Yes, it is not as stable/over stable as some would make it sound. It goes where you throw it, and holds the line pretty darn well, but don't expect the same kind of fade you get from other putters with big beads.

I too have trouble getting the correct spin on them. I think you are correct in your assessment. Without the right amount of spin, they are just another putter.

I've been carrying and throwing an Ion for about 6 months now, and yesterday I decided to play a 1-disc round with it at the biggest local course.

What fun!

I think I'll be leaving my other discs at home more often.

They'll take whatever line you put them on. Sometimes I still underestimate how much this is true when I'm putting into a headwind. I'll be nervous about the putt flipping and add some hyzer, only to watch it fall short and to the left

replace mids and fairways? thats too much to expect out of a putter if your only getting it 225.

And isn't going to happen on a course with low ceilings no matter how good you are with driving putters.

I haven't quite gotten up to 225 with my Ions yet. 200, yes, but further is eluding me. I can stretch out an Aviar that far, just not the Ion. 225 is about max with a putter for me so far since I backhand them. My shoulder is too torn up to get more out of it I'm afraid.

Mike, I know exactly what you mean. Last week was pretty windy here. I don't know how many times I adjusted my putt to supposedly compensate, only to find out I didn't need to. If I just threw it and let it do its thing, no prob. It goes in.
