Random draw doubles is where you don't have to bring your own partner because one will be randomly assigned to everyone there and the two of you will play together on a team, usually both throwing from each lie and then proceeding to and throwing from the better of the two shots and playing from there until someone holes out.

generally it will be best shot and it is like a scramble in golf. commonly misunderstood is the name best ball . . . in golf both people play the hole out and you take the best score.
I recommend getting into a random draw because you will not feel like you are holding anyone up, sometimes they even mix the pros with the ams which gives you a good intro to the game without your shot mattering every throw. My first tourney was a random doubles and I took 1st (out of 2 people who completed both rounds). Yeah me! I enjoyed playing with better players though.

You play dubs with a partner that is randomly chosen for you. Most likely you will be playing best shot dubs which is where you and your partner each throw from the tee, then you choose the best lie, then both partners throw from that best lie and so on. Hope that helps
