Suggestions for discs and technique when big elevation change is present.

I would think a Meteor would be a good disc. Comets just seem to float all by themselves on downhill shots. I would think a Meteor would be a next best alternative type disc, for me personally. I would say the Meteor would handle the wind better, but then again, I've not had much wind to deal with since falling for the Comets.

Understable to minimize fade when you find that you've left the tail end of your flight too high in the air.
