I prefer the headphones when I'm by myself and I just want to get some practice in. Often I'll go to the course and see a few groups playing and decide "Today I'll just put on the Ipod and throw alone". Funny thing is that every single time I've done this someone or a group has asked me to play. I guess what I'm saying is give 'em the ole reverse psychology.

Does playing with my dog count as solo? I always bring him out and we play.

If not him, I bring my wife and she loves to play and really has gotten good. She shot even par the other day in McKinney which is a record for her! She snagged two birdies!

I play tons of solo rounds. I enjoy the experience, relazxing time and solitude. I also enjoy playing with others on the course and dont hesitate to just ask others to play with. You meet a lot of people that way and make some friends who love to play.

That's the truth, scarp. I'm going to have to remember to bring my mp3 player and go into my own little world.

As I said earlier, it's ALWAYS solo. That's the main problem, no matter if I call people, etc. I really want to play with others, as it makes you better (if they're better than you or at least close), plus it makes the game more fun if you compare and contrast your game to others' game.

I am sure there are other players at your course that you are playing at. Just go up to the strangers and ask to play with them. "Hey man, mind if I play with you guys?" Only once has someone said no. Most players welcome you to join. Strangers are friends you haven't met before. At the end of the round, you will either have made a good connection with them or you will know that you don't want to play with them again. Others might not make the effort, so you have to jsut go right up to them.

Thanks for the input.
Then just let them go. ...or as I like to say: Eff'm! Dude, I live in an area, that just got 3 more players, making a grand total of 4 of us. The problem is that they still live 40+ miles away from me. The other downside is none of the courses are worth a 40mile drive. So believe me, I completely understand.

Paging RussMB:Party of One!

I understand about the improving, worse comes to worse, I've got 2 words for you ROAD TRIP!!!

I've taken two road trips, from South Carolina to Iowa. I met up with: DSCJNKY, CWalbino, SteveQC, and Red Army. That's just the DGCR'rs. I met up with a couple of others not on here. (Yes, I tried to recruit) I also played with Prerube here two days before I left. There are other players out there, another thing you can do, is to promote your home course. There are DG'rs travelling out there, when you see them, tell "Hey, if you are going through "X", stop off for a round" or even find out if someone is going to be near you, and take a drive and hook up.

Also, Check out the "Members Near Me" Section. That should give you an Idea. Also, Check out the course websites. If there is a Contact Email, hit them up. I've met a couple of Non-DGCR'rs, just from emailing them. So, don't isolate yourself to your "local jurisdiction". Think outside of your town. ...and as far as the locals go. Eff'm!

Oh, you might want to modify your profile. You have Louisville, (You need to remove the colon) as your hometown. You aren't showing up in the results for your town. I'm assuming it's Louisville, KY. You have quite a few players in your town, so there is a bunch of people to choose from. Plus, if you show up in the list, players might hit you up as well. Put some more info down, like courses played, Discs, etc... You are on this site, you might as well dive in. Hey, this site is my connection to a disc golf social life, and I love it! Where else can you photoshop disc golf pictures from History!

I can already tell you that 26 people have been to your profile to see where you've played. (Just an FYI, put some courses down on your page) So... Chop Chop my friend!! Let's get to cracken on that profile page! Put some discs down, put some courses played, Starts some Discussion topics. (Except "Is this an Ace? and Roc vs Buzzz) Hey, your here, smile, enjoy it, and have some fun with it.

I like playing alone so I can throw 3-4 drives a hole, a couple approach shots and at least 2 putts a hole. I hate wasting my time on a disc golf course and only throwing about 54 times, +/-, I want my money's worth.

What courses in Ky do you play? I play Lincoln Ridge, Idlewild and AJ Jolly.

Where do you live in KY? I could be close. Also, take a road trip to Burlington now and then and play myself. I have a aunt that lives within a mile or two of Idewild.

And I've been in groups where people weren't invited to join because the person wanting to join wasn't into certain things. Just tell them you don't care what they are doing, you just want to play with someone. Some people are paranoid or don't want to worry about offending others so they just prefer to play themselves.
