New Bag
Alright, so I've cut down on many of the molds I throw to avoid overlap, and here is the new bag configuration. I max out at just over 400ft on my drives. Any gaps in my bag or overlapping?
Drivers: Star Wraith - My go to distance driver Star Xcal - Use in place of the wraith for headwind shots Star Teebird - Use for straight/control shots Star Valk - Turnover shots Champ Monster - Big hyzers Mids Dx, Kc, and Super Rocs in various stages of wear Putters Wizards in various stages of wear

1. Since you play in Funroe and don't face 30mph headwinds or anything, I'm pretty confident you could cover big hyzers with the Wraith or Xcal. I mean, The Man Himself likes Wraiths for that shot...
2. I feel like wooded courses would eat this bag unless you've got pro-level accuracy. All of those discs except the Teebird have a pretty curvy flight path one way or another. Maybe a Buzzz, Mako, Coyote, etc. if you're in a tight spot or need to get down a hallway.

Actually, the Monster could double for overstable duties, but perhaps a Firebird. I like the putters and mids in wear stages...solid.
Can you power down your Valkyrie for controlled fairway turnover shots? Maybe a bit of distance gap between your mids and distance drivers... How far do you typically throw your mids and are you more BH or FH?

Depending on how much you are concerned about minimizing the number of molds in your bag, you could probably choose drivers in a way that reduces the mold count. Whether or not that's a concern is up to you, though.
You might want to consider a more workable fairway driver than the Teebird depending on how well you can shape lines with it. |

Well, you guys pointed out the area that I was a bit concerned with. I am a BH player 99% of the time, but I do have a “finger pop” shot that gets me about 200 ft or so.
I max out a roc at about 330ft and have really good control with them in the 300 or lower range. I manage them fairly well in the woods if I have enough ceiling to work with. I can power down the valk to work as more of a fairway driver if I need to, but more often then not, I’m using the roc for anything up to 320 and a teebird or wraith for anything over that. So do I need a controllable fairway driver? Suggestions?

Maybe Eagle-Xs and pull the Valkyrie? Keep the Teebird for the dead straight shots and use Eagles for lines, etc. Both speed 7 and a similar in-hand feel.
My usage of fairway drivers really seems to vary depending on the course. My distance is not quite as long, but comparable (Rocs to 310, 290ish controlled, and so on) Like you I'm throwing alot of Roc shots and then throwing bigger stuff on the open holes (OLF is my main) But if I need that in-between distance and must have good control over the line, I may not have the room to "power down" to account for bigger hyzers and fade. That's where my Eagle/Teebird combo helps. FWIW, DX Gazelles had a home in my bag for a long time, about 30ft more than Rocs and IMO the control is almost as good. An amazing "slow" driver.

I don't know, do you?
![]() If you go to a new course, do you find there are lines you can't consistantly hit (maybe some 'S' shots or gentle turnovers) with the discs you have? If so you might want to look into something more workable. If you're happy with the array of shots you have and the consistancy with which you can hit them you proably don't need anything else. |
