Some Video for Critique
Hey, so I've been working on my drives like crazy over the last few months, and have managed to up my average distance from about 330 to around 400, which is awesome and due to the stuff I've seen here and over on DGR. I have some serious problems with nose-up that I feel like is stopping me from hitting some real distance. Any help with that, aside from the usual articles and threads (that I've poured over, trust me) would be awesome, as well as any other help/tips you guys can give me. I throw Teebirds and Destroyers in these vids. Thanks!
A bunch of generic drives. These are for distance and accuracy, not pure d. All were 380-420 and within a pretty good clump. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xDY8xHe4YzA Same thing (different drives) from the front http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xd_KrkUnxBg These are a couple of solid distance drives on probably the best day I've had so far. First and third were about 460 and the second was right at 500. Only thing different I saw was that I threw nose down for once, but I have no idea why. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X0yN9lX_S84 |

Were the Teebird throws consistantly closer to 380' and the Destoryer throws closer to 420' or were both of them jumping around in that range?
It all looks pretty good, as reflected by how far you're throwing. I didn't see any glaring issues, but it may be easier to get nose down if you start your pull lower. Starting it higher will push the nose up on weight forward throws. I like how slow you're starting in the first videos. It does a good job of illustrating how late you should be accelerating. |

I hadn't thought of pulling lower. That's a good idea. I've been trying to let my wrist stay limp through the throw and snap it into the nose down position right at the hit, but that doesn't seem to be super effective. I will for sure give that a shot.
My teebirds will hit 360 on a golf line and my destroyers will hit 400, but throwing any harder makes both flex a little and eeks out a bit more distance, but loses a little control as well. My thought behind that is that my pull and/or snap is still poorly timed, because I can put my rocs out to 350 easily and my putter around there (with not a lot of control) but get little improvement distance-wise with faster discs. |

You may also be "half hitting" it where you're getting good timing with your elbow and shoulders, but aren't fully utalizing your wrist. There's a thread at DGR where it's discussed in more detail. I'd worry about the nose angle thing before you try to fix that, though. FWIW, most people don't ever get to where they're even "half hitting" it. |

Watch this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-5uHMoYJ6Q Pay attention to the first kid that Marty Peters helps. I think you might be doing the wrist thing that he corrected. I think it's around 3:20 in the video.

just guessing but it looks like the weight transfer vs the release timing is off.

It's definitely a timing thing. I'm going to go out tomorrow and work on my shoulder turn and making sure my hips are coming through a little more. I'll probably post some more film if it's any help. Conqrats on the d, by the way. That's awesome for a new player. I'm pretty damn jealous.
