Central Illinois roadtrip

Wednesday, I'm meeting a friend in Danville, IL, and then heading out early to hit a few courses. The forecast in the area calls for highs around 100, so it's going to be interesting. We're definitely going to bring lots of drinks, snacks, extra shirts, socks, and will be taking plenty of breaks. Here's the possible list of places we'll play...let me know if any of you have any further suggestions...thanks!

Deming Park - Terre Haute, IN
Effingham DGC - Effingham, IL
Eagle Point DGC - Saint Elmo, IL
Foundation Park DG Complex Rec 9 - Centralia, IL
Foundation Park DG Complex Champ 18 - Centralia, IL

Centrailia champ is very good (even Scooter likes it ) Rec nine is longer than most "regular" courses; but open. Saint Elmo and Effingham are short wooded courses with elevation. Nice enough; but no more than 3 rated (I've got Foundation champ at 4.5). Don't know the other one. Go to the Foundation/Centrailia board and post; someone will more than likely throw with you. Guide helpful at Foundation; plus, guys from the board are great guys. Ask Eric, there, what he would suggest; he and Dave are both well traveled discers and it's their turf.

Thanks for the info, tallpaul! I can't wait to see the Foundation 18-holer...

the 'eric' paul was referring to is known as hognosesucker here on the DGCR boards.

a cool guy for sure, and i'd bet he's more than willing to show you around foundation park if you give him enough notice.

shoot him a PM, and tell him to give me a thumb or two from our recent trip will ya?

Well, we played both Centralia courses in about 96 degree heat and humidity... We were beat after that, and just headed home. It was quite fun, despite losing both of my Buzzz's. Doh!
