Hole Of The Day 6/24/2010

So I wanted to start this thread because I literally played this hole last Saturday for the first time.

Hole 16 @ Pueblo City Park

Distance: Long, even in the short position.

Pro Tee

Am Tee

Basket (apparently)

Now the basket in the short position is on top of those retaining walls close to an OB fence. In the long position it is at the bottom of the retaining walls near OB road on the right hand side of this picture. The tees are on the top level a good 400+ ft to the left. There are a bunch of trees that you see in the tee pictures, and they get thicker the further left you are off the tee, which is also where the baskets are.

How I played the hole in either position, or how I wanted to play the hole in my second round, is throwing my flippy NUKE right at the most distant trees there in the middle of the picture. Sure the baskets are all left edge of the tee shots but the best gap through the trees is right there up the middle of these photos. On a good throw you land just past those trees, a good 400ft drive and then hope for a good upshot that lets you get your three and get on to hole 17, which is no treat in and of itself.

Based on Talbot's description, I'd probably want to flex shot either my light weight Boss or heavy Boss (depending on conditions). Probably a heavy Shark from there and if I've played it a bit I'd try a new Ion or rely on the ol' BB Aviar. Here's to hoping for par.

I have played this hole over 75 times easily. Always driving from the pro tee, your teeshot is really just to get to the tree line and distance. I usually throw a Beast, RHBH. Your second shot is everything on this hole. The baskets are either on top or on the terraces or all the way one the bottom. If it is on top or on the terrace, your second shot has to be right on, a little long and you go all the way to the bottom and must shot a par shot 30 feet up and back, good luck with that because if you miss you could be in the same position. I always lay up my second shot carefully and go for a par. Even at that to throw a putt 30 feet out knowing there is a 30 + feet drop off on the other side is scary. Definately a challenging hole.

This is going to come down to wind for me I think. If it's REALLY calm all over...I'm hyzer flipping a beat DX 150 wraith. If there's mild wind I'm throwing a Champ Wraith and just trying to huck the snot out of the poor thing. If there's a tailwind I'm going to hyzer flip an Avenger SS...not too much hyzer because it'd be okay if I ended right. I'm guessing I'll end up short of the trees just a touch (maybe from hitting the trees) and I'll probably throw a roller underneath them if it's still a bit of distance away. Or a Stalker if I want to throw flat and low.

The course map does show the drop off behind the basket location(s)

It just looks like a big drive to the end of the open grass and carefull approach. I'd probably throw a Destroyer off of the long tee, if it's 400ish to the trees, then I'd be close but not over.

Sorry, just had to make these bigger. If you don't use the _m version of the pic it's bigger

Depending on how far it is to the treeline, Nuke or Wildcat. If it's windy, I'm throwing the crush.

Nuke to drive. Xtra, or Buzzz from there. Ion into the chains.

RHBH Pro Boss off the tee and hope to be close enough to use a Roc for an approach under 100'. If I can get that close, I like my chances to put me within the 30 feet for a solid Rhyno putt.
