My bag

Hey! I'm new to the site but have been lurking here for months. All the advice about disc'n down has definitely helped my game. I started in October of last year and like most noobs immediately bought the fastest drivers I could find. Well after 8 months with no real improvement I decided to disc down. I can now get putters out to 200'-225', Mids out to 250-275 and fairways from there to about 315'. I now wanna try the "few molds as possible" to simplify my bag and shot selection.

Here's what I got:
Soft wizard 174g slightly beat
Soft wizard 175g new

Dx roc 180g ( trying to beat it in for turnovers)
Kc pro roc 180g
Warrior hpp 178g (overstable)

Star leopard 175g
Saber hpp 171g
River opto 169g
River gl 171g
Star teebird 172g
Echo star teebird 175g

Flx predator 171g (spike hyzers, utility disc)

Any help would be appreciated. I'm sure there is overlap in there with all the fairways..

Thanks!

That looks great actually. There's some overlap b/w the Leopard and the Rivers and the Teebirds and the Sabre and somewhat b/w KC Pro Roc and Warrior. If you really want to go the mold minimalism route you could replace the Warrior with a Champ Roc but they're pricey.

The only thing that I'd think about adding is a lighter champ Teebird in the 150-160s for all-out max D shots. If the DX Roc doesn't beat in quickly enough for you, get either an Ontario Roc or a Comet, they're really similar in feel to Rocs.

Welcome to the DGCR brotherhood.

Star teebird 172g
Echo star teebird 175g

Bold would be what I would do for a minimalist bag for you.

Alternatively, take the Teebirds out and use the Rivers. What I went with was the Teebird for the straight disc with reliable fade since the more understable disc you carry (Leopard in this case) could hit the lines where you dont want/need that fade.

Thanks BrotherDave. I've actually been thinking of dropping the warrior as it never really cuts like I want it to. Yeah I'd like to get a champion roc. Maybe I can get one of the 2010 worlds ones when they release.

If you really want one and want to support the USDGC then go ahead, but IMO from a useability standpoint they aren't worth it.

I'd pick one mold from the Leopard, River or Sabre. Go ahead and use the rest for fieldwork, but I'd focus on one of them for line shaping.

You're definitely on the right track. Just take a few discs and force yourself to use them for everything.

I don't know why but for some reason the leopard I have is pretty stable. More so than the sabre I have for sure. I have to hyzer flip the sabre to keep it from turning over and it always finishes with virtually no fade. Maybe it's the weight? Star? OAT? Idk.

I think I'm gonna try this for a few games:

2 wizards

2 rocs

1 sabre

2 rivers

1 predator

So I played today with this setup. I love the rivers..so much glide. I consistantly got them out past 300'. I drove half the time with the rocs and actually parked one for a birdie. I think the hole was 215ish. I still finished at 9 over which is pretty good for me.
