I play the Chamblee Church disc golf course on my lunch breaks. Been playing for about 4 months and never lost a disc until last week. Playing hole #6, I hit an early tree with my Beast and kicked into the river on the opposite side.
![]() 2 holes later on hole #9, I overshot with my Buzzz and landed in the same river 3 feet away from my Beast. Double ![]() ![]() I purchased replacements over the weekend along with a Golden Retriever in hopes of getting the discs back today. I went there today only to find that they were both gone (no chance of the river taking them away as they were both trapped by a log on the other side). Gotta love it when you write your name and number on discs in hopes that someone might actually be honest enough to at least attempt to contact you. Oh well, hopefully whoever it was really needed the discs.

depressing
this is in reply to a closed thread on whether or not to return lost discs with name/number on them... and the disappointing ratio of stolen/returned discs that are clearly marked with active contact info.
how can you not grab a disc with a number on it.. and not want to call the person, braggin' that you found the disc? i have plastic sitting underwater right now because i wasnt in the position to go swimming when i mis-threw. when i go in this weekend, im expecting to find not only my star valk, but also some others. i will with no doubt, attempt contact with all marked finds. ... even after pulling them from the bottom of a retention pond. for those of you who think its open finder's keepers.. you're new to the sport.. and you suck. the next time you lose your $15 wallet or $7 car keys.. remember disc golf, and that its your fault for giving up search. finders keepers. but hey.. cheer up.. you have a $hit ton of premium plastic in your "frisbee golf" bag. i guess it takes life experiences to become a decent person. karma CAN be a bitch. ( just my 2 dollars worth .. i feel better now ) |

so, me and my friend went out to shovel off the teepads at one of the local courses that never gets played in the winter. i brought three discs (star aviar, 2011 ice bowl roc and champ avair) to play quickly while we were shoveling. i found a disc in the melting snow so it was a good day... then at the end i put my discs on the roof of my car to load the shovels into my tiny car. about an hour later went out to show my brother the disc i found and realized that all four were missing. i rushed back to the course but was unable to find the discs. i know that it was totally my fault for leaving them on the roof but it was dark when i left and there has been one group other than me all winter that has played this course so if someone took the discs i am almost positive they are not even DGers which may be the saddest part of it, besides losing about $40 worth of discs

went out today to a course I don't usually play and I look a cross a small creek and I see a pretty pink hornet. Well the creek is too deep/wide to walk through so I look down stream and see a shaky log spanning the gap. I risked it and it paid off as the disc had no name/number on it. A pretty new Hornet. Im guessing the owner didn't care since his name wasnt on it and it was all the way on the other side of this creek.
if it had a phone number I would have called, because its the best feeling when you get a call from someone with a disc you have recently lost.

i lost my star stingray on hole 7 @ Sunset Park in Gulf Breeze, FL....hit the tree in the middle of the fairway and it kicked off hard to the right....right into the black lagoon....
the worst part is the next day when i was out there, two guys in wet suits were in the lagoon....i told them i'd throw some $ their way if they returned it, even wrote my # down and put it on their cars windshield......still haven't heard from them..... so 0/3 on discs w/my name and # being returned.....people suck.... ...i've returned 2 discs already....

I dont know what this feeling is when someone else calls you about one of your lost discs. Ive probably lost some where around 10 discs over the past 2 years and received 1 call, and it was all the way up in Chattanooga, a good 2 hour drive from where I lost that disc. I've found a few discs over the past 2 years, some with numbers but most with nothing. I have yet to return any, but I dont feel bad as I have not had any returned. Dont get me wrong, Ive made plenty of phone calls but with no avail. Oh well cant find em all.
