Courtesy Violations.

Some things bother me when playing in a tourny and I am wondering if I am just being anal, or do I have a legitimate argument.

When I am putting, even on a short putt I don't want the other player to stand behind their lie staring at me. Is it too much to ask for them to back up out of my sightline while I am putting? For example, if I have a 20 foot putt and the other player has a 16 foot putt to my right. The other player walks behind their lie and then stands extrememly still. Like standing still is going to make them dissappear.

When I am approaching, same thing, is it too much to ask for the other player to wait untill I have thrown before they advance to their lie?

On the teebox there always seem to be people who love to stand directly beside the teebox instead of behind it. When I reach back to drive I don't want to be looking at another player 3 feet beside of me.

This stuff shouldn't bother me but it messes up my concentration. Instead of focusing on the gap that I need to hit I am thinking about the douche who will not back out out of my siteline.

Are any of these courtesy violations? Or do I just need to learn to get over it?

Nobody should be in front of you or close to your sides during approaches. I do believe you can ask people to get out of the circle while putting and could probably do the same while driving, especially if you had a safety concern.

You are allowed to talk to people and ask them to move.

You would be okay asking players to move but those aren't directly courtesy violations, although players are not to advance to their lie until the away player throws. Yes, you are being a little too anal. Learning how to deal with other things in your visual field that aren't moving besides trees (what if wind is blowing branches?) is part of the game. If we had more spectators at lower level events, you would expect to have people in your field of view all the time who would hopefully be courteous enough not to move when you are putting.

Agreed. It still bothers me sometimes but I have made it my goal to not blame visual or audial distractions on someone else. All you need to be able to do is clear your head and concentrate on the shot.

That's like one of those "all you have to do is knock all 430 lead milk bottles over with this one beanbag to win the giant teddy bear" kind of things isn't it?

Agreed, but sometimes it's easier said than done. I don't mind if someone's off in my peripheral vision and being still, but if they are movinig ( or worse yet, if their dog is moving), that breaks my concentration.
