Get off my lawn!

So I was at Vollrath Park on Saturday to trade a bunch of used plastic for straps (love the Gel-Straps, btw). Now, this course, as it is set in the middle of town, has a high concentration of teeny boppers that play it. I turned around to talk to a guy I know for not even a minute, and as I turned back, some 13-14 yo kid was basically rifling through my disc bag, pulling every one out to look at it.

I thought this was about as disrespectful as could be. My first comment was "what the hell are you doing?", followed by "if you ask, you can feel free to look at my setup".

Is it normal for kids to just start rifling through your bag, or is it as disrespectful as I thought it was? I had flashbacks of my dad cuffing me upside the head. I wouldn't even dream of just walking up and rummaging through somebody's discs.

Not normal. In fact, I'd check to make sure none were missing. Damn kids and their makeout parties and loud rock music...

Plenty of people have rifled through my bag. But I know them, and they weren't teens. I'd never let a stranger touch my gear, kid or otherwise. What did he do after you admonished him?

Can't say I've ever had that happen. I would have to say something in that situation. If mom and dad didn't instill personal respect in him, someone has to do it. It takes a village, after all...

You know how 13-14 year old kids get that way? When mom and dad don't give them a proper smack on the behind for doing that sort of stuff when they're five.

I wished for a second, it was still the 50's. I would put said kid over my knee. But I'm old school like that.

Nothing was missing...and the kid is a pretty good shot, from what I've seen. My thinking is that he plays that course a lot, for some reason thinks it's "his", and can do whatever he wants.

He didn't say much afterwards, and was somewhat sheepish...so I'd suspect at least he knew he shouldn't have been doing it.

THIS. I have a 12 year old son, and a soon to be 10 year old stepdaughter. My son got his spanks when he was 3-5, and doesn't backtalk or get in trouble. The stepdaughter, on the other hand, was coddled, never spanked, and now has the worst little mouth you've ever heard and is going to be completely out of control as she gets older.

I've already sized the windows for bars.
